Polyester Staple Fiber

Short Description:

Polyester staple fiber, also known as polyester short fiber, is a short-cut synthetic fiber made from PET (polyethylene terephthalate) through melt spinning, stretching, crimping, and cutting. It is one of the world's largest-produced and most widely used textile raw materials, and a core raw material for wet wipes, non-woven fabrics, and home textiles in foreign trade.

Key Advantages:

  • High strength and excellent durability for industrial applications
  • Strong wrinkle and abrasion resistance with stable performance
  • Good elasticity and shape retention for consistent fiber quality
  • Excellent processing stability for spinning and nonwoven production

PRODUCT PARAMETER

Key Features (Comparison with High Whiteness Adhesive VSF)

Comparison Item Polyester PSF High Whiteness VSF
Raw Material Petroleum-based PET (synthetic) Wood pulp or cotton pulp (regenerated cellulose)
Moisture Absorption / Breathability Low (moisture regain ≈ 0.4%), quick drying High (moisture regain ≈ 12–14%), skin-friendly
Strength / Abrasion Resistance High strength, durable, resistant to washing Moderate strength, slightly lower wet strength
Elasticity / Wrinkle Resistance Good elasticity, shape-retaining, wrinkle-resistant Moderate elasticity, prone to wrinkling
Whiteness / Cleanliness Can achieve high whiteness (≥85%), but less skin-friendly High whiteness (≥88%), free from fluorescent agents, low residue
Cost Lower cost, high cost-performance ratio Medium to high cost, premium for safety and quality
Environmental Impact Recyclable (recycled PSF available), not naturally biodegradable Biodegradable, more environmentally friendly

Core Application Scenarios

1. Nonwoven Fabrics (Core)

  • Spunlace/Thermoplastic/Needle-punched nonwoven fabrics: Wet wipes (outer/inner layer), face towels, cotton wipes, masks, filter materials, medical sheets
  • Features: High strength, low cost, easy to mold, often blended with viscose (e.g., 70% viscose + 30% polyester) to balance absorbency and crispness

2. Textile Spinning

  • Pure/Blended (with cotton, viscose, wool, etc.): T-shirts, shirts, sportswear, home textiles
  • Features: Wrinkle-resistant, abrasion-resistant, easy to care for, suitable for fast fashion and workwear

3. Fillings

  • Pillows, sofas, mattresses, toys, down comforter replacements: Hollow three-dimensional crimped PSF (HCS), fluffy, resilient, easy to clean

4. Industrial Uses

  • Automotive interiors, geotextiles, filter cloths, seat belts, insulation materials: High temperature resistance, chemical resistance, dimensional stability

• Raw materials: Virgin PTA+MEG polymerization (virgin PSF), or recycled PET flakes/waste fibers (recycled PSF/RPSF)

• Process: Melt spinning → Stretching → Crimping → Cutting → Drying and setting → Packaging

• Key specifications:

Linear Density (Fineness) 1.2D / 1.5D (fine denier, soft)
3D / 6D / 15D (coarse denier, bulky)
Length 32mm / 38mm (cotton type, spinning)
51mm / 64mm (wool type, blending)
6–12mm (nonwoven / filling)
Morphology / Cross-section Solid
